MYOLECTRIC PROSTHETIC (WIP)
a.k.a The "Growing" Prosthetic
The goal of this project is to create a working prototype of an inexpensive extendable "below the elbow" prosthetic for children which can be 3D printed. The fore arm will increase in length as well as in width in order to compensate for a child's growth. This product enables proper development of motor skills, promotes positive body image, and reduces costs and doctor's visits.
The first stage will include the forearm, hand, and circuitry which allows the hand to open and close when the corresponding nerve impulse is detected. This project is in collaboration with a local amputee. The next stage would be to include a mobile wrist joint and incorporate user feedback.
